Intern
Healing doesn't happen alone. Ram Das says, "We're all walking each other home." My approach as a therapist is to be a collaborator in your journey towards the fullest expression of yourself.
I have worked in mental and behavioral health for a number of years as a steward of those healing from trauma, addiction, grief, relational rupture, and lost sense of self. I am committed to helping others find meaning, build coping skills, and step into alignment and congruence with self. I began my journey as a healer working with struggling teenagers and young adults in wilderness therapy, where I learned to center first and foremost on healthy relationships as the groundwork for transformation. As such, I lean heavily on attachment theory as a philosophical framework. We heal and grow together.
As a student of social work, the lens I bring to therapy is holistic and extends beyond the micro experience. I'm interested in the macro level of ecological systems theory -- how racism, sexism, heteronormativity, xenophobia, ableism, and other institutionalized systems of oppression create destructive impact at the individual level -- and am committed to working together to dismantle these sources of our collective suffering. I also believe in non-vertical relationships in the therapeutic space. You are the expert of your own experience. I am just a companion.
As your companion, I offer unconditional acceptance while we work together to disrupt maladaptive thoughts and behaviors, leaning on the framework of Internal Family Systems to generate compassion for self and others. I hope to equip you with a wide skill set of tools to manage the distress of daily life, and in session, my goal is to create safe, non-judgemental spaces to explore the discomfort of shame, rejection, and grief, so that together, we can transform pain into acceptance and joy. If you struggle with anxiety, attachment rupture, acute/developmental trauma, substance use, self-worth, life transitions, shame, family dynamics, oppression fatigue, building connections with others, or getting "unstuck" from old patterns, we may be good fits for each other.
At MFSP, I see both individual clients and run a weekly substance use group. I am currently enrolled in Portland State University's Masters in Social Work program, and am one of the student interns at MFSP. While I do not take insurance, I am currently offering individual sessions at a reduced rate of $50/hr, and sessions for my substance use group are $25/week. Please book a consultation through our website to schedule with me! I look forward to being in relation with you. :)
